The Compassionate Friends ~ A peer support group for families (parents, grandparents, and siblings) who have experienced the death of a child, a miscarriage or lost infant. Meets on the last Monday of each month at 7:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church (300 E. Main, Missoula; except December, July, and August). Contact: Susan Moore, president at 543-8840.
Garden City Funeral Home Bereavement Support Group ~ This drop-in group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm at Garden City Funeral Home, 1705 W. Broadway. This group is free and open to the public. Contact Chaplain Dan Dixson at 327-4063.
Healing Hearts For Moms ~ A caring support group for mothers who have experienced the death of a child, meets one time a month. Contacts: Phyllis Tag, 549-4333 or Judy Peterson, 549-8482.
H.O.P.E. Bereavement Support Group ~ This peer support group is for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. It meets at A New Song, 821 S. Orange Street. Contact Pat Kendall for times at 543-2890.
A New Song: A Resource Center for Grief, Loss, and Life Transitions ~ The Center provides resources (books, tapes, and pamphlets for check-out) to help people during the difficult journeys of life. The Center is located at 821 S. Orange St., and open by appointment. Contact: Pat Kendall at 543-2890.
Hospice of Missoula ~ Offers an 8-week bereavement support group twice each year for adults. Also offers an annual memorial service to commemorate the loss of a loved one in an outdoor setting (held in late summer/early fall). Contact: Vickie Kammerer, MSW, 543-4408.
Partner’s Hospice and Palliative Care Services ~ Provides a variety of bereavement services for the community, including individual bereavement support, bereavement assessments, 8-week bereavement support groups for adults and information about community bereavement resources. All services are free of charge. Contact: Gretchen Strohmaier, Bereavement Coordinator, 327-3624.
W.O.W. (Widows and Widowers on Wheels) ~ A group that meets one time a month for lunch (third Saturday at noon at the Golden Corral). Smaller groups within this larger group meet in between the lunch meetings to do a variety of other social things like playing cards, bird watching, going to the movies, and playing golf.
