WE WERE ALL KIDS ONCE!
Each of us can probably think of someone who took the time to invest in us along the way. Big or small, we may be able to think of a time that someone's investment or willingness to believe in us was meaningful and influenced who we have become. Are you looking to be that person for a young adult or teen? Are you a passionate professional or have a skill or interest you would like to share? Dream Bigger is always looking for volunteer presenters and would love to hear from you! Want to make a longer term investment? Do you have a passion for supporting young people as they navigate through the challenges of life? If so, you can sign up to be a teen's biggest fan and advocate this summer by applying to become a mentor! |
History of Dream Bigger MT: Dream Bigger was an idea founded by Shannon Thompson in collaboration with Families First during her pursuit of a degree in Community Advocacy & Social Policy. This transformative curriculum emerged from Shannon's personal reflections on the challenges she encountered in her own life. Struggling in high school, she frequently ran away from home, leading to her eventual placement at the Attention Home and later at Mountain View Girls Home. Shannon's path eventually led her to Montana State Women's Prison. It was through these experiences that Shannon recognized the need for greater support and guidance during her formative years, realizing the potential impact of early exposure to essential life knowledge.
In Shannon's view, many crucial life lessons can only be learned through trial and error. With this understanding, she firmly believes that equipping young individuals with life skills, as taught in this program, will better prepare them for life's challenges and propel them towards their goals more efficiently. This shared vision is what drives Shannon, along with our dedicated team at Families First, to empower each participant and help them achieve their aspirations. |
