Programs
Happy Families Montana families face ongoing economic, health, and mental health challenges. With guidance from MHP, Families First Learning Lab is developing and offering happiness education for parents and families. The Happy Families Project infuses principles and practices from positive psychology into family education and consultations, including a new Missoula Community Access Television (MCAT) show hosted by Dylan Wright.
Happy Schools Schools and teachers are also struggling with high stress in their learning space. MHP is collaborating with The Montana Safe Schools Center to help nurture teachers and students in the skills needed to live happier, more fulfilling lives. This project involves:
Subsidizing graduate-level courses on evidence-based happiness for educators. These courses teach educators how to apply evidence-based happiness strategies in their own lives and how to weave happiness knowledge and experiences into their teaching practice.
Developing and validating a Happiness Potential Questionnaire for students. In contrast to traditional depression and suicide assessment instruments, this questionnaire will focus on potential for positive change. It will help teachers and counselors guide students efficiently and effectively, without pathologizing normal human distress.
Training for school professionals on using individual, small group, and larger group venues for facilitating evidence-based happiness to middle and high school students.
Happy Universities Because of the stress in recent times, anxiety and depression abound on campus, and resources are stretched thin. MHPis collaborating with Counseling Services at the University of Montana on The University of Montana Mental Health and Happiness Project.
