Families First Family Education Classes & Services

Our parenting classes serve two purposes – our parent educators can share research-based information about raising healthy, resilient children, and parents and guardians have the opportunity to network and exchange ideas and advice.
Many of our parenting classes are free and open to the public with childcare provided, or have a reduced fee option.
Our core curriculum emphasizes positive parenting, communication, and self-esteem in families.

Circle of Security
This is a relationship-based parenting program designed to help foster a healthier parent-child relationship. The content of Circle of Security focuses on helping parents:
  • Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs
  • Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
  • Enhance the development of their child’s self esteem
  • Honor the innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure.
This curriculum is a five week series and our instructors are certified in Circle of Security training. You can learn more about upcoming series and register HERE .

Dads & Dialogue
Dads & Dialogue is a workshop to strengthen families by enhancing individual parents’ wellness and their knowledge of parenting and child development. Participants transform and elevate their well-being by exploring questions about their resilience, relationships, knowledge, support, and communication. In this course, we look to provide support by exploring the experiences related to being a dad and other fatherhood issues. Learn more and register HERE .

Family Education Workshops
Our workshops focus on practical parenting and skill building to help parents gain tools in effective parenting. We have recently undergone a full curriculum re-development to provide consistent material to all parents, free of charge. These workshops are two hours long and are currently held through partnerships with the Missoula County Public School System, other schools, and Confederated Salish Kootenai Tribes.

Parent Consultations
Families First was based on the foundation of a consultation program for parents and families that was brought to life by John Sommers-Flanagan. These consultations provide individualized support to help families navigate obstacles within their family system. The foundation of our approach stems from the idea that all parents love their children. Our goal is to give families from any background access to practical help with any family issue in a confidential, solution-focused setting. Learn more HERE.

Mediation
