Our FREE, week-long LGBTQ teen camp is focused on building resiliency through identity development and community resource building. This small group of up to 8 teens (13-17, all genders) will be led by staff within the queer community, and we’ll set up camp just outside of Missoula, MT. In addition to fun around the campfire, teens will participate in meaningful conversations that allow them to share their vulnerable experiences in a supportive place, and brainstorm ways to support themselves and each other as they face hardships that are inherently different from many of their peers or family members. A big topic is family support, and teens and leaders will share ideas for how to talk to family members and get the support they need. Camping will include learning primitive survival skills in a comfortable front-country setting, crafting, games, outdoor exploration, and cooking with native plants. All transportation is provided from the public library, and we’ll provide all outdoor gear unless otherwise preferred on an individual basis.
