Finding balance has taken on new meaning during this time of uncertainty. Before the shift to working from home AND schooling from home, many of us may have felt we had somewhat predictable and expected schedules. This predictability has gone away, and we are left exploring a new way of doing things. During our “virtual” staff meetings over the past couple of weeks, it is inevitable that someone at some point always says, “Be sure you are taking care of yourself and honoring your needs.” Our team has talked a lot about the importance of setting aside time for ourselves to do something that feels good. It may be meditation, a long walk, coffee and journaling, or just waking up a few minutes earlier than everyone else to sit in silence and prepare for the day. As we continue to address the needs and concerns of our families, friends, and neighbors during this time, it is more important than ever that we don’t forget to tend to our own needs.
We love the April Happiness Calendar from Greater Good Science Center. This month’s theme is Finding Resilience and Reducing Anxiety. We hope you too will find encouragement and a gentle reminder that we are all in this together.
